III: Language points: A Survey Report on Owner-Managers in the UK Information Related to the Reading Passage 1. Entrepreneur is a famous British business magazine, which aims at providing solutions for growing business. Entrepreneur Magazine is the banner publication of the Entrepreneur Magazine Group. It has the largest newsstand circulation of any business monthly with a total circulation of 410,000. 2. MBA stands for Master of Business Administration and is a 2-year program in management studies. Parallel with Post Graduate courses, an MBA is a practical preparation for individuals in business or management. 3. Oliver Goldsmith: an Irish-British essayist, poet, novelist, and dramatist. He attended Trinity College before studying medicine in Edinburgh. Settling in London, he began writing essays, some of which were collected in The Citizen of the World (1762). In 1764 he became an original member of S.Johnson’s famous Club. He won a reputation as a poet with The Traveler (1764), confirmed by his famous pastoral elegy The Deserted Village (1770). The Vicar of Wakefield (1766) revealed his skill as a novelist. The charming farce She Stoops to Conquer (1773) was his most effective play. He is noted for his exceptionally graceful, lively style, and was a friend of many literary writers of his day, who agreed that he was one of the oddest personalities of his time. Main Sentences 1.
